Here's our brief coverage of the Minnesota Street Rod Associations "Back to the 50's" car show/cruise held at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds in St. Paul, now the largest car show in the country. All cars on the grounds must be 1964 or older..so only early Corvairs present. We did spy a Rampside and another 700 model which we did not see when I had the camera with. Spent about 12 hours there Saturday. It rained off and on. Highlights include several "old skool" rods that looked like junque but fully functional. Chip Foose was on hand, one girl told me she waiting in line for 3 hours to see him and get his autograph (there was a huge line) rather than wait, we snapped our own pics peering thru the line. The airplane with the banner circled overhead most of the day. not sure of the message but I bet the pilot made plenty of cash for all the flying time! Favoriote moment of the weekend, just before we got ready to head to the car and leave, we were sitting on a barrier that directed traffic one way thru an intersection watching cars come at us and curve off to our left when I noticed a 55 Chevy had pulled over, seconds later the Duece Coupe pulled up along side (they were only about 50 feet in front of me as I sat on the barrier) reved up, jerked forward, reved, etc...suddenly I realized..they were recreating the last scene from American Graffiti, Milner in the Coupe, Falfa in the 55, in the last race in the movie! Holy Crap! Just managed to get off a shot before they drove off. Anyway, here's a bunch of pics. Hard to choose from nearly 200 shots, but you get the idea! Captions as needed and of course click the thumbnails for full size pics! These are just a few pics, I may post more later.
