Corvairs at the
Itasca Vintage Car Club Show
Grand Rapids, MN 7/31/2005
The last weekend in July is a full
blown car weekend in Grand Rapids, Minnesota., The Northern Cruisers
have their car show on Saturday, the Itasca Vintage Car Cllub has
their show on Sunday, and there's a HUGE swap meet that covers the
Itasca County Fairgrounds (and most of the parking area too) with
more interesting stuff than you can ever imagine. Sadly, the Corvair
was not represented at all at the Northern Cruisers show, but I did
manage to turn up a few of the air-cooled wonders at the fairgrounds
on Sunday. I also managed to pick up three '64 NOS tail lights
lenses (that I don't really need) at the swap meet! More coverage of
the car weekend will be posted on my work website...I work at the
area radio station and we broadcast live from the car show Saturday,
and there are a bunch of pictures coming, but probably won't be
posted untill after Monday 8/1. this link will get ya there:
http://kozyradio.com/wow.html. If you head there before it's updated you'll see very
few pics from last years show. Try Monday after lunch for the new
stuff at the same link.
I would have been disappointed if there were NO
Corvairs at all at the show. First one I spotted on Saturday during
the swap meet was this toy Corvair Van. Only $145! Needless to say I
was able to pass it up.
This respectable 62 Convertible turned
up in the Car Corral waiting for a buyer to come along.
This red 63 convertible was also
available for purchase. Top was trashed and it needs lots of TLC,
but it runs and drives. I think Ryan has begun negotiations on this
one.
And finally, actually IN the show was
this lovely 1966 monza convertible. YUM!
